Job Summary and Opportunity

The SEC Reporting Manager is responsible drafting and compiling reporting and disclosure information in the firm’s SEC filings as well as other internal management reporting. This position is responsible for ad-hoc accounting, internal control, regulatory/compliance research, and other special projects. In addition, this individual is a key player in communications with external and internal auditors.

 

Key to this role’s success is current knowledge in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting as well as keen attention to detail to ensure compliance and consistency across reports.

 

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for drafting disclosures and compiling information for management’s discussion and analysis and the financial statements and footnotes in the firm’s Form 10-K and Form 10-Q filings with the SEC
  • Lead and participate in various quarterly analytical review and disclosure preparation meetings covering the business units and key financial statement areas
  • Aggregate and review data for Form 10-K, Form 10-Q and Form 8-K disclosures and assist in filing through the Workiva platform
  • Perform and document analytical review of disclosures
  • Prepare and maintain supporting workpaper documentation for the firm’s filings
  • Help manage and coordinate the annual financial statement audit, including collaboration with external auditors on key deliverables, and assist with regulatory examinations
  • Liaise with internal auditors on their audits of financial reporting and related controls
  • Support drafting of quarterly earnings release, related presentation and support materials
  • Primary responsibility for the firm’s quarterly financial report presented to the Board of Directors
  • Assist with other filings and financial reports, including the firm’s annual proxy statement
  • Perform technical accounting and reporting research, including FASB and SEC literature
  • Mentorship and oversight of work performed by junior staff accountant 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and programs
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars
  • Maintain, execute, and document internal controls in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley Section 404

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years' external reporting at a public company or public accounting experience auditing SEC clients
  • Considerable knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Preferred: 

  • Workiva
  • Experience at a financial institution and/or in public accounting
